Online store Alf the Label has announced that it will donate $100 from every sale of its Luxe Sue handbag to Dress for Success (DFS), a not-for-profit organisation that supports disadvantaged women re-entering the workforce by providing them with career development tools, training and corporate attire.
Aside from donating a third of the sales from each Luxe Sue bag, Alf the Label will also contribute to the programs and services offered at Dress for Success. The donations will go directly to the DFS branch closest to the Alf customer purchasing the bag and will support that customer’s local community of women re-entering the workforce.
This new campaign comes on top of the brand’s ongoing charity partnership with DFS, where they not only donate a portion of sales to the charity from every sale, but also spearhead the Alf Exchange, a program where women can donate any brand’s pre-loved bag back to Alf in exchange for up to $100 to spend with the brand. Alf then re-purposes these bags and donates them to Dress for Success.
“As a working parent myself, Dress for Success’s cause is close to my heart,” Sophie Doyle, Founder and Creative Director of Alf the Label, and an ISB Top 50 Small Business Leader, said. “As we offer products primarily for women who are transitioning between being a parent and the workforce, I am incredibly passionate about giving back to a charity who directly support women and children in need.”
More than three-quarters of the women who complete DFS’s workplace development program are employed within three months, and eighty per cent of participants achieve some form of financial stability by the end of the program.
The Luxe Sue handbag is named in honour of Sophie’s mother.
