Victoria’s start-up agency LaunchVic has launched its new campaign that showcases the state’s most successful start-ups and encourages Victorians to realise their business dreams with the support of the state’s ecosystem of investors, accelerators and founder support programs.
The ‘Startups Start Here’ campaign is the first-of-its-kind advertising campaign to celebrate the achievements of the state’s start-up ecosystem that employs more than 52,000 Victorians.
The campaign will run for 12 weeks and to be distributed across the State.
Startups Start Here spotlight some of Victoria’s best start-ups, their respective stories, and how the people and place backed them to be where they are today. The campaign will feature the likes of Zac Leigh of Tixel, Hannon Comazzetto of AirRobe, Ben Pfisterer of Zeller, Dr Ben Hurst of HotDoc, Kim Teo of Mr Yum, Jordy and Julia Kay of Great Wrap and Jeanette Cheah of Hex, whose stories are expected to inspire the next wave of entrepreneurs in the state.
LaunchVic remains the only state government start-up agency with a mandate to proactively grow the start-up ecosystem since its inception in 2016. Since then, it has supported approximately 2950 scaling and successful businesses, according to the latest LaunchVic data (from Dealroom) as the value of the ecosystem has grown to AUD$91 billion and has become the home of 19 unicorns (80 per cent reaching that status after 2017).
“The Startups Start Here campaign is about putting the state’s most exciting companies on a pedestal and showing how the people and the place have backed them to be where they are today,” LaunchVic CEO Dr Kate Cornick said. “Victoria is doing an amazing job producing globally competitive companies, but not enough people know. Start-up founders shaping the future of Victoria should be revered – much like our sports stars – so they can inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs from all across our state.”
