Women’s group Business in Heels announced the opening of nominations for the 2024 Gender Equity Awards, inviting nominations for individuals, organisations, and initiatives that champion gender equity and inclusivity in the workplace.
Now in its third consecutive year, the Gender Equity Awards aims to recognise excellence in gender equity practices and highlight the importance of such gender equity initiatives.
This year the awards will be introducing new categories specifically honouring First Nations businesses and intersectional initiatives, reflecting the awards’ commitment to recognising diverse efforts towards achieving gender parity. Business in Heels states that by sharing and celebrating best practices, acknowledging exemplary behaviour, and encouraging continual improvement, these awards aim to expedite progress towards a future where gender parity is the norm.
Gender Equity Awards 2024 seeks to inspire others to advocate for greater diversity and gender equality and accelerate the journey towards achieving a 50/50 gender balance by 2130. “In a world where gender disparities persist, it is crucial to highlight and celebrate those who are leading the charge towards equality. By recognising the efforts of individuals, organisations, and initiatives,” the organisation states.
“Gender equity is not just a goal; it’s a necessity for a fair and inclusive society,” Lisa Sweeney, CEO at Business in Heels, said. “Through the Gender Equity Awards, we aim to shine a spotlight on those who are making significant strides in this arena and inspire others to join the movement towards creating a more equitable future for all.”
One of the past winners of the Gender Equity Awards, Coulter Legal, was recognised for promoting individuals while on parental leave, showcasing their dedication to supporting work-life balance and gender equity in career advancement opportunities.
“Don’t be afraid to be bold, innovative, and agile,” Anne O’Loughlin, Managing principal at Coulter Legal, said. “Keep informed about industry challenges and communicate effectively. By doing so, we can create workplaces where everyone feels heard, supported, and empowered to balance work and family commitments.”
